After seeing the details, it sounds like Wright did the right thing. Daves couldn't have known the full story when he tried to pull him over, and I'm sure he was pretty pumped up by the time he got him at the hospital. Still, once he found out the story he should have backed down. It might have been quicker and better if Wright had pulled over for a second and explained, but it doesn't sound like Daves is the sort who would have gotten it quickly and given him a police escort.
